COSCO Shipping Energy vessel at sea, safety and environmental compliance, maritime operations

Safety Is Not a Policy. It Is Who We Are.

At CS Tanker (China Shipping Tanker Company Limited), safety and environmental responsibility are not compliance obligations — they are the values that define our culture, guide our decisions, and protect our people, our vessels, and the oceans we navigate.

The Principles That Guide Every Decision

Six core values underpin everything CS Tanker does — from how we manage our fleet to how we treat our people and protect the environment.

Safety First

Safety is not a compliance exercise — it is a core value embedded in every decision we make, from vessel design to crew training. Zero harm to people, vessels, and the environment is our non-negotiable standard.

Environmental Stewardship

We are committed to reducing the environmental footprint of our operations. All vessels comply with MARPOL Annex I–VI. We actively pursue decarbonisation in line with IMO strategy and COSCO Shipping Group's environmental commitments.

Operational Excellence

We pursue excellence in every aspect of our operations — from vessel maintenance and crew competency to commercial performance and client service. Continuous improvement is built into our management systems.

Integrity & Transparency

We operate with complete transparency in our dealings with clients, regulators, and partners. Our reporting is accurate, our commitments are honoured, and our conduct meets the highest ethical standards.

People & Welfare

Our seafarers and shore staff are our greatest asset. We invest in training, welfare, and career development to attract and retain the best maritime professionals, in compliance with MLC 2006 standards.

Continuous Improvement

We never accept the status quo. Through regular audits, near-miss reporting, and industry benchmarking, we continuously raise the bar on safety, environmental performance, and operational quality.

A Robust SMS at the Core of Our Operations

CS Tanker's Safety Management System (SMS) is certified to ISM Code standards and forms the backbone of all operational procedures across our fleet. It covers every aspect of vessel operations — from navigation and cargo handling to emergency response and environmental protection.

Following the 2019 management reform, CS Tanker's unified fleet operation framework ensures consistent application of safety standards across all crude oil tankers and LNG carriers. Regular internal audits, external vetting inspections, and near-miss reporting ensure our SMS remains effective and continuously improving.

Our HSEQ team works closely with vessel crews to embed a genuine safety culture — one where every officer and rating feels empowered to stop work if they believe it is unsafe.
