CS Tanker Launches Enhanced Seafarer Welfare Program

CS Tanker has launched an enhanced seafarer welfare program providing improved internet connectivity, mental health support, and dedicated welfare officers.
CS Tanker has launched a comprehensive enhanced seafarer welfare programme, reflecting our deep commitment to the wellbeing of the 500+ seafarers who serve aboard our fleet. The programme, developed in consultation with crew representatives and welfare organisations, addresses the key challenges facing seafarers in the modern maritime industry.
Improved Internet Connectivity
All 36 CS Tanker vessels have been upgraded with high-speed VSAT internet connectivity, providing seafarers with reliable access to video calling, social media, and online services during their time off watch. The upgrade, which cost approximately $2.4 million, recognises that reliable communication with family and friends is essential to seafarer mental health and wellbeing.
Mental Health Support
CS Tanker has partnered with a leading maritime mental health organisation to provide confidential counselling services to all seafarers and their families. The service is available 24/7 via telephone and video call, and is provided at no cost to seafarers. All senior officers have also received mental health first aid training to help them identify and support crew members who may be struggling.
Dedicated Welfare Officers
A dedicated welfare officer has been appointed at each of CS Tanker's three shore offices — Piraeus, Singapore, and Houston. The welfare officers serve as a point of contact for seafarers and their families, helping to resolve practical issues such as crew changes, medical repatriation, and family emergencies. They also coordinate shore leave arrangements and recreational activities in port.
MLC 2006 Compliance
The enhanced welfare programme goes significantly beyond the minimum requirements of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC 2006), reflecting CS Tanker's belief that seafarer welfare is not just a compliance obligation but a fundamental responsibility. We are proud to be a signatory to the Neptune Declaration on Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change.
COO Statement
"Our seafarers are the heart of CS Tanker. Without them, there is no fleet, no cargo, no company," said Maria Papadopoulos, Chief Operating Officer. "This programme is our commitment to them — that we will do everything in our power to support their wellbeing, their families, and their careers. It is the right thing to do, and it is also good business: seafarers who feel valued and supported perform better and stay with us longer."
