CS Tanker Completes EGCS Retrofit Across 8 VLCC Fleet Vessels

As part of our Green Shipping Initiative, CS Tanker has completed the installation of Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems on eight VLCC vessels.
CS Tanker has successfully completed the installation of Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS), commonly known as scrubbers, on eight VLCC vessels in our fleet. The programme, which began in 2021 as part of our Green Shipping Initiative, has been completed ahead of schedule and represents a total investment of approximately $48 million.
Environmental Impact
The EGCS systems reduce sulphur oxide (SOx) emissions by over 95% on the fitted vessels, enabling them to burn high-sulphur fuel oil while meeting the IMO's 0.5% global sulphur cap requirements. This approach has also delivered significant fuel cost savings, which are being reinvested into further environmental improvement programmes.
2030 Carbon Intensity Targets
The EGCS programme is one component of CS Tanker's broader Green Shipping Initiative, which targets a 30% reduction in carbon intensity across the fleet by 2030, aligned with the IMO's Initial GHG Strategy. Other elements of the programme include the completed BWTS installation across all vessels, ongoing hull cleaning and coating optimisation, and the evaluation of alternative fuels including LNG and methanol for future newbuildings.
